copywriting and content strategy for entrepreneurs
It’s so interesting – when you are providing a service that helps someone else promote their offers, it’s so easy to sell for them. But.. Why is it that when we are promoting our own products, selling is often really hard?
The way you’re emotionally tied to a sale is different when you’re selling YOUR offers. Mindset starts to become a huge issue for people because you have to be vulnerable. You have to put yourself forward and convince others to buy into your product and something you created. You start to spiral wondering if your offer is good enough, or if others are going to see the value in it.
You can lessen the emotion by focusing more on the strategy. If you’re focusing on the process you’re going to follow each day.
When you get fewer sales than you had expected, then self-doubt tends to creep in. Quite often people quit the moment this happens. It’s typical to want to protect yourself from what you are perceiving as failure. When you focus on the process and you can check off the boxes each day, you can stay on course and keep yourself from making decisions driven by fears and emotions.
One way to take the emotion out of your results is to simplify the result you’re after. It’s either – 1) I am serving someone or 2) I am not serving anyone.
Why does this work? If you are a solopreneur and you don’t have a team supporting you, it is okay to create goals that either make you feel good at the end of the day, or that feel easier to achieve. This will help you counteract those mindset spirals before they happen.
If you aren’t so tied to a number goal, you won’t tie your self worth into your results. So, you are taking the negative emotion out AND getting proactive by following a process that helps you manage your emotions before they get out of control.
Entrepreneurs tend to get a little goal-crazy. You can take control of your goals instead of letting them control you.
One way to do this is by creating a monthly monetary goal for yourself instead of attaching a sales goal to multiple offers each month. If your sales don’t work out, you won’t feel so bad about the thing not selling, because you can easily adjust and fill in with other things. There are endless ways to make money!
1- Have a to-do list and stick with it
2- Check in with an accountability partner
3- Go into your launch with a plan to manage your mindset/ emotions
4- Set a goal. But, avoid goals that are so focused on numbers.
